The Actions These Words Require

Ok, so I had thought about this sometime this week, while listening to a song (of course).

Ok so, as we know (or should know), there's a difference between loving somebody and being in love with somebody. Though young, I can attest to both terms.

So, I once was in love. Notice the words IN LOVE. I lied to my mom just to talk to him on the phone. Had the whole plan just in case she wanted to pick the phone up. Whatever he asked me to do, I did. Whatever I asked him to do, he did. Like, for real. But years and relationships later, my feels shifted. Mostly because we were separated from each other and didn't spend any time together. But if you were to bring up his name now or ask me about him, I would still tell you I love him. Notice the word LOVE. No longer in love. No longer does he give me those butterflies in my stomach. No longer would I do just anything he would ask me, some things, maybe, but not just anything.

Notice, once again, a few important words I have said : ANYTHING and SOME THINGS.

Now, for someone you are in love with, like I stated above, you would do whatever they asked. But for someone you just love, you're not going to do everything they ask.

Now, many say we love God, some would even say we are in love with Him. But your love for Him will show in your actions. If you just love God, you probably wouldn't do everything He asks. Even attempting to do everything He asked you wouldn't even be a possibility. Now, in no way am I saying that everybody who is in love with God does everything He asked/told us to do every single time. But this life is about persistence, consistency, perserverence, wanting to please the One you are in love with, or say you are. Once you becoming in love with God, you will have a strong will to do whatever He asks, no matter what, no matter who is or isn't with you on the way. But that type of love only develops with time, persistence, patience and spending time with Him. I think people forget sometimes that God has feelings. That He gets happy when we choose Him, when we spend time with Him. I mean think about it. We get happy when the ones we love that love us back, think enough about us to call just to say hi or spend time with us because they want to, not because we're pestering them to do such.

So the question is, are you in love with God or do you love Him?? Are you letting past hurts and how structurely messed up your experience may have been with learning who God is affect you knowing who God is for yourself? (Trust, I think most people have had a untruthful and bad experience with the people of God.) What are you willing to do about it? What are you willing to do for God? What are you willing to do for yourself? It'll just be you and God when judgement day comes. Can't blame anybody but yourself when He asks why you did or didn't do something, including knowing Him personally, on a first name basis.

Think about it.
